Family History Important for Your Colon Health
One of the risk factors for colorectal cancer is having a family history of the disease. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), around 33 percent of individuals with colorectal cancer (CRC) have relatives who have also been diagnosed with the disease.
I had a D&C performed today by my OB. I was asked to arrive at 7 am and my procedure promptly started at 8 am. I went home by 9:45. It was a very smooth experience. Now, this was my very first time going under general anesthesia. The reason for my four stars are because I was quite nervous about having this procedure. My husband stayed in the waiting area, but I would have preferred him by my side during the pre-op experience. I changed into my gown and once my IV and BP monitors were hooked, I waited until the anesthesiologist and OB came to talk to me. During that time, my husband being by my side would have been comforting, but I put my big girl panties on, prayed and hoped for the best. Now that Covid restrictions aren't limited, I think family members should be allowed to be with us during the pre-op in my opinion and would have made this experience a 5 stars. Once taken back, the mask was placed on my face and I was out immediately and woke up in my recovery room. The nurse offered me water and allowed me to get some rest. She also called my husband immediately to let him know everything went well and brought him back to my room. Overall, a wonderful experience. I would def recommend them to others and return for future procedures. Be aware, there's paid parking (max $10) in the garage.
